Pheasant & Partridge Poults

Pheasant

1. All poults are grass reared on fresh ground each year. We have a strict field rotation where each rearing site is ploughed, planted with maize which is then harvested and then re-seeded the following year to grass to ensure that when we say fresh ground it really is. Without ploughing and re-seeding the ground cannot be truthfully described as “fresh ground.”

2. The huts, Partridge Verandas, shelter pens, pen sections and every last bit of equipment (pipework, drinkers, feeders, etc.) are taken down at the end of the season. Washed and disinfected each year and stored under cover during the winter and then re-assembled on a different field the following year.

3. All the poults are hatched on site in our purpose built one way system hatchery. Which again is kept scrupulously clean, power-washed and disinfected each week after each hatch and then fumigated.

4. All pheasant poults are seven weeks old when they leave the farm.

5. Partridge poults are sold at between twelve and fourteen weeks of age, but the age of the partridges can be tailored to individual customers requirements. We can provide both French and English partridges which are reared strictly to order.

6 All poults are well hardened off to ensure that they are ready for release.

7. Each batch of poults is regularly autopsied at various growth stages.

8. We have weekly veterinary inspections from our Specialist Poultry Vet (who is happy to provide a reference on our rearing practices and also provide autopsy reports on birds selected from a particular batch of poults destined for a particular customer at the time of delivery.)

9. Pheasant poults can be wing clipped at no extra cost.

10. Nationwide delivery.

11. Customer inspection is always welcome.
